Indian Creek Recreation Area is Louisiana's premier outdoor recreation facility. Known throughout the nation as an example of outdoor fun at its best, Indian Creek boasts 100 acres of developed recreation facilities, 250 acres of primitive camping area and the 2,250-acre Indian Creek Lake. Indian Creek Recreation Area contains 101 campsites with water and electricity, three swimming beaches, a bathhouse, a boat launch ramp and some 75 picnic sites. A pavilion within the developed area accommodates groups of up to 100 people. The recreation area is open year round. Facilities are available on a first-come, first-serve basis only, except for the pavilion. Developed camping areas are $18 - $25 per night. Primitive Camping areas are $8 per night. Fees collected are returned to Indian Creek Recreation Area for operational expenses. From October 1 to February 1, special winter rates are available. Indian Creek Hiking Trail is a 2-1/2 mile long path through a mixed pine-hardwood forest.
Kincaid Lake Recreation Area campground is very attractive. The sites are extremely large and covered by southern yellow pines and a wide variety of other hardwoods. Then to top it off the thick ground cover provides very private sites, though some are more private than others, most of them are very private. Unfortunately very few of the sites have a view of the lake. The best time to visit is probably in the spring and fall as the summers are very hot in southern Louisiana. Kincaid Lake is a man made lake stocked with sun perch, bass, and catfish. The fishing is exceptional.
